Cotecna acquires Geochem (India and Consumer Products)
The acquisition does not include Geochem’s government services, and oil & gas businesses.
Geochem was founded in 1964 in Mumbai and since then, thanks to the extraordinary entrepreneurial spirit of its founders, has become one of the largest and most dynamic independent testing and inspection organizations, both in India and internationally.
Sebastien Dannaud, Cotecna CEO said: “This acquisition is highly strategic for Cotecna, allowing us to substantially reinforce our Indian footprint by leveraging on Geochem’s complementarities and broader service portfolio on the commodities, food safety and pharma markets. We strongly believe in the potential of India to generate growth for Cotecna in the future and Geochem brings a unique opportunity to accelerate this development.
Equally strategic and a factor of value creation for Cotecna is the acquisition of Geochem’s consumer products testing laboratories in South Asia and the Middle East. After the acquisition of ACT in the United States last March and Shenzhen Toby Technology Co. in China last month, Geochem’s consumer goods testing setup will strengthen our service and geographical footprint in the product conformity assurance market, one of the areas that Cotecna wants to prioritize in its strategic development roadmap.
I would also like to congratulate the Bahl family, founder of Geochem, for the exceptional entrepreneurship and dynamism demonstrated in the development of the company and sincerely thank them for having trusted Cotecna as the right partner for the future of Geochem”.
