Cotecna Accredited by GAC and Notified from MoIAT for Halal Certification

We are pleased to announce that Cotecna has been accredited to provide Halal Certification services. Specifically, Cotecna has been accredited by the GCC Accreditation Center (GAC - HPC 0060) and notified by the United Arab Emirates MoIAT (Ministry of Industries and Advance Technology).

Cotecna is now conducting Halal Certification for all halal compliant manufacturers and products. Cotecna can assist exporters in complying with halal standards and export globally. In addition, Cotecna is accredited for Halal Slaughtering in Kenya.

To clarify, a Halal Certification confirms that products are compliant with Islamic/Shariah standards. Halal products follow specific rules for production, slaughter and other quality standards set by Islamic Sharia. The certification process includes the testing and inspection of products, quality management systems, manufacturing process, and factories to determine compliance.

The Cotecna global scope primarily covers:

• Food manufacturing
• Animal feed production
• Catering
• Cosmetics
• Production of food and other packaging material
• Equipment manufacturing

In addition to the Kenya scope which cover animal slaughtering.

Of note, a Halal Certification is valid for 3 years and renewal applications must be submitted to Cotecna at least a month before certificate expiration.
